Croatian Goverment Extends the Covid-19 Lockdown until January 10

Like many news outlets had speculated in the recent days, the unfavorable epidemiological situation in whole of Croatia has forced the Croatian government to extend the lockdown period from December 21 up to January 10. The extension of the epidemiological measure will bring back a limitation to the travel within the country, seeking to avoid a negative boom in the holiday season. Starting from December 22, all travel between Croatian counties will be banned except for persons eligible for a special travel pass, mostly those working in counties other than their place of residence. As expected, the new measures will be more permissive than the ones executed back in March and April, which prohibited also movement between individual municipalities, which caused great annoyances and disruptions in metropolitan area like that of Split.

Though the new lockdown measures are set to expire on January 10, it remains to be seen whether another extension will be put in place if the epidemiological situation does not improve.
