The release of the eight edition of Gault&Millau’s guide to Croatian culinary scene was celebrated with a dazzling gala dinner held in the Emerald Ballroom of Zagreb’s iconic Hotel Esplanade. The gala celebrated the country’s finest chefs and restaurants, recognizing exceptional talent, innovation and culinary mastery.
The main award of Gault&Millau’s ‘Culinary Oscars’ went to Rudi Štefan from Šibenik’s Pelegrini restaurant, perhaps the best restaurant in Dalmatia in the past decade.
Split’s buzzing culinary scene was recognized with the ‘Great Chef of Tomorrow’ award that was presented to chef Karlo Kaleb from Krug Restaurant, perhaps one of the most ambitious culinary projects in Split in recent years.
Gault&Millau plaques were presented to the best rated Croatian restaurants, namely 360 from Dubrovnik, the only one with a rating of 18/20, Monte from Rovinj, NAV from Zagreb, Pelegrini from Šibenik, Alfred Keller from Mali Lošinj, Boškinac from Novalja, Cap Aureo Signature from Rovinj, Nebo restaurant & Lounge bar by Deni Srdoč from Rijeka, ManO2 from Zagreb, Noel from Zagreb, Tač from Zagreb, Zinfandel’s from Zagreb and, finally, Zrno Soli from Split.
The 2025 guide features 26 restaurants in the regular category and 11 restaurants in the POP category. Zrno Soli has received the best rating among its local peers with the score 17 out of 20. Followed by Zoi and Dvor with 16.5 and the two newcomers Triton and Krug at 16.
