Vasko Lipovac Atelier
Vasko Lipovac (1931-2006) was one of the most prolific and renowned artists in the former Yugoslavia, famous for his minimalist figuration and masterful use of a intense and often dissonant color palette. His unique style made his authorial touch recognizable to even the most unfamiliar of observers. Born near Kotor, present-day Montenegro, where he spent his youth, Lipovac moved to Zagreb to enroll in its Academy of Arts. In 1967, he moved to Split, a bustling and developing city at the time, whose still-palpable Mediterranean lifestyle inspired Lipovac to fulfill his life-long artistic vision meticulously dedicated to capturing the spirit of Dalmatia and its people.
His atelier in which he worked from 1990 until his death had been opened to the general public from 2011. It offers an excellent insight into the quirkiness of Lipovac’s artistic world.
