The observatory reportedly cost 1.3 million euros, which was financed by the City of Split, the EU funds, and Split-Dalmatia County. The architects of the project are Emil Šverko and Neno Kezić.

During the official opening ceremony, Split’s mayor Ivica Puljak highlighted the futuristic design of the deck that symbolizes the development of Split: “Ambitious, but always with the thought that we must preserve the beauty that surrounds us.”

The observatory will be open for visitors daily, from 8 AM to 8 PM. The entrance to the observatory deck will be free of charge. The deck can receive 10 persons at the same time. The observatory is also equipped with an elevator for persons with disabilities.

Apart from hiking, visitors can access the observatory with the free Marjan eelectric mini-bus that is running from the Marjan Visitor Center.
