The faith of the eight iteration of Ultra Europe, the three-day event that is scheduled to take place in July 2021, still remains unknown. After having cancelled the 2020 event in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemics back in May of last year, the organizers of Ultra Europe had kept their public relations releases at a bare minimum. Their official social media accounts, which had stopped posting regularly back in August 2020, has remained dead silent ever since, provoking responses from many angry party goers who had not been happy about this lack of transparency.
On April 12, Croatia’s other major festival, the rock-oriented INmusic had cancelled their Zagreb event scheduled for late June due to the coronavirus pandemic and the increasingly unlikely vaccination and immunization goals that are to be met locally and internationally in order for the festival to take place.
As of April 21, 419.252 persons in Croatia had received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination, while 143.796 had received the second. According to these numbers, approximately 4,39 percent of population had been fully vaccinated, while 12,80 percent had received one dose of the vaccination. During the month of May, another 525.000 doses of Pfizer are expected to be delivered, while in June further 800.000 Pfizer, 500.000 AstraZeneca and 100.000 Johnson & Johnson vaccination doses are expected.
Whether the local vaccination efforts will be able to curb the pandemics locally and set ground for a successful summer season of 2021 remains to be seen, but the faith of Ultra Europe 2021 will surely be a telling sign for what kind of summer we are to expect.
