Matoni Restaurant

Matoni is a modernized version of a traditional Dalmatian style restaurant neatly nestled in a former wine cellar a few yards off the very popular Bačvice Beach. It is more formal than the majority of the Old Town restaurants, reflecting more the older practices of Split’s restaurants. Though pasta and seafood dishes are readily available, Matoni’s spotlights are their ‘meaty’ winners, like the dry aged stake, glazed beef ribs, and oxtail with gnocchi ragù. The wine list is decently sized, with a selection of wines from all across Croatia. Matoni is best enjoyed as a part of a more formal, multiple course dinner.
